Confirmed Bike Supremists:

because bikes are better and cars suck

This is an old guestbook for this site I had that no longer works. Comments are listed in reverse chronological order. Navigation Menu at Bottom of page.

Hi Russell,

I think your cause is great! Thank-you, thank-you.
I'm a proud owner of a Garry Fisher Big Sur (bought at CyclePath Vancouver!) and a RekTek Tiagra (also bought in Vancouver [Reckless])
You can count on these soldiers to show up at your CM meetings.

Really wish more people would try to go green...
Cheers,
Henry

-Great, Hope you had fun if you ever did show up (I write one and a half years later). Your soldier comments are a bit scary. I suppose my Bike Supremist Title might be also. Anyway we cyclists have a good sense of humour.

Wow. Ruselle, you have a pretty groovin' website here. I think you should take some of this stuff to the airwaves, it would make a GREAT radio show!

What you are doing is great. I have never been driving a car in this country. I bike or I bus. I'll join you for your next friday ride.
Now, website matter: you are going for an original look. Great. But, please test it for readability, first of all. Some pages just bite your eyes! I think some imagery is great, some need to go. You want to look fab, right!? Kill some of the colour. Make it consistent. Surprise is good, but at some points I am not sure what website I am on. Go with a theme, and go all out. Fewer themes will make it look MUCH STRONGER!!
Thanks!

-no I didn't say that!!!

I approve of alternate methods of transportation. Bicycles are on top of the list. Skates, skateboards etc...We should not forget that old traditional method that requires no artificially enhanced muscles, walking! A good definition of us is "the animal that walks". Not only is it super healthy but it does not pollute at all. No mining of metals, no expenditure of energy, etc... I hope the next time that you send an invite you'll include walkers as being welcome also. Thanks for listening. The streets are ours and so is our future!

DEBORAH!
Canada - Wednesday, October 04, 2000 at 19:43:53 (PDT)

Diary of last year's season of accidents: 1. Riding down Yukon St. at a medium-fast speed. A truck pulls out in front of me and I wipe out into the curb to avoid going under the tires. The driver and I make eye contact. Result: He does not stop. I have minor scrapes. I ride on.

 2. Riding pn 7th at a very slow speed. Woman pull out of parking spot and does U-Turn directly in front of me. Result: No injuries to me, her antenna is snapped off by my elbow. I ride on.

 3. Riding down Nelson at a medium-fast speed in the far left lane (it's a one way street). Woman turns left from the middle lane with no warning, I slam into the side of her car at about 20 km/hr after braking. Result: She says "It has been a long day", I ride on with a large bruise on my thigh. Bike is fine. Fun times.

-Wow! Glad you are still alive! I can assure you that at Critical Mass we try to create a safe cycling experiance where that stuff doesn't happen. Unfortunatly with so many tanks wandering the streets it becomes difficult. Keep on ridin'!

I'm not going to write anything profound, but I think that bicycles are absolutely definitly possitivily good.

hate is too strong a word. Resent, disgust, feel noxious, or would like to ignore. but to hate something takes so much effort. and i wouldn't waste that kind of effort on the automobile

-I think you've hit the nail on the head minka, we have it better than cars anyway so we shouldn't be too cruel or make fun of them too much. It's just that they stink up the neighbourhood.

Yo Russel your rockin man. Great site. I see you get your share of nerds. The important part is the great people who have some brains left after living in the oxygen depleted atmosphere. The UBC BLVD. campaign is going to city hall tomorow morning and we are looking at getting a bike lane on both side of the BLVD instead of one side for automobiles and one side for cyclists. Our rides have had a success of sorts. Now we need to push for a clean air BLVD. The next rides that we organise would be for a car free campus. This campign is not launched yet. maybe we can start working on that. The CAR-FREE BURRARD STREET meetings are happening soon. Invite all interested people and i will get back to you as soon as the date is fixed. CYCLING FOREVER Guy Wera

Russ you are a fucked up guy. The car is a beautiful thing, the problem is the number of people not the number of cars. Do not seek to cure the symptoms but rather the disease should be your goal. Change your name to critical masses and lobby for birth control, not just ccondoms, but by the state.

-Very funny Steve. Except that the population problem is a myth. The problem is too FEW people are being moved by too much metal and we're paying too much money for it. We need more people. People are good!

pretty good impressive stuff for a bachelor frogg!

Hey, you convinced me. If I lived in Vancouver and knew how to ride a bicycle, I would.
